Ethical Policy

Kindly JR’s Ethical Policy

Kindly JR is a one-woman impact-led creative business providing WordPress websites that are higher performance and lower carbon for people who care for the planet and all of the species that live on it.

Kindly JR aims to actively implement good practice that promotes sustainability and behavioural change, within the online industry, that leads to a cleaner, greener and fairer future.

Kindly JR believes that small businesses or non-profits with a slimmer budget should have equal access to higher performance, lower carbon website options. We provide this using lightweight WordPress themes (and occasionally builders), which we optimise to achieve low carbon results (like the website you’re reading this on now for example). We develop locally, reducing energy that would have been used working on a live server. We can advise on using affordable green hosting.

Kindly JR believes that our business practices should be conducted with kindness, ethical integrity, and respect for the planet and those affected by our activities.

Who we work with…

An essential step of ensuring we have a kind impact on the planet is assessing the impact that the people we choose to work with have on the planet. Kindly JR works with a variety of clients, and has an assessment process before committing to any project. This process ensures that the company/person fits with our ethical values.

We work only with clients/on projects that tick one or multiple of these factors:

  1. Have a social, ethical or environmental mission or purpose
  2. Encourages sustainability and/or healthy lifestyles
  3. Is a social enterprise or non-profit organisation

We will not work with clients that directly promote any of the following:

  • Fossil fuels
  • Unhealthy products
  • Pyramid Schemes
  • Gambling
  • The meat and dairy industries
  • Any known discrimination
  • Any known support of violence to humans, animals, or agriculture

This process applies to both new clients and existing ones. We will review our current relationships to ensure they still meet our ethical ambitions.

The blueprint of this Ethical Policy, along with the foundation of our sustainable practices, derives from Wholegrain Digital, and Tom Greenwood’s book: Sustainable Web Design

Kindly,
JR
